Our Journey

So Mike and I have decided to start our get healthy journey!!!! We have decided that the only way that it is going to work is if we actually have a goal that we are going to meet.  So we decided to run our first 5k ever. Well maybe I should clarify this... it was my idea and Mike was so nice to follow and say he would run with me! Truth be told Mike says he is not a runner and I found this saying and he agree this was him...
Guess we will change him by the end of our journey!!!
I guess I just needed something that would help get me motivated so paying the money for the 5k will help me to not lose focus and waist the money we put into the run.  I'm glad Mike is running with me.  We signed up for the color me RAD 5k in May.  My thinking is this is supposed to be a fun run and I fill it would be less pressure for our first run.  We are excited that it is now finally warming up and we can get moving more outside. Our kids don't know it yet but they are also going on this journey with us.  And I know they will be excited too.
I also thought this would be a great way to journal our progression, so I will be posting more on our journey mainly to keep track and see what we have done. It is all about keeping track and journaling.
SO HERE WE GOOOOOO.......

We are Back!!! Hopefully!!

Well we are trying to keep up the blog again... This is a never ending cycle for us, we do really well then we stop and so on.  We are trying to keep up with everything, and we want to keep everyone up to date with our life.  And we feel this is probably one of the best ways.  So we are trying again!!!

We are not going to even try to catch up so we are just going to start with here and now....

Mike and I...  Or biggest news is we bought our first home!!!
We are so HAPPY it is ours.  The kids love it too.  They do every once and awhile ask why we are not living with grandma and grandpa.
Mike is loving his job and enjoys all the hard work that he is putting into it.  It has been a struggle getting things organized and running better, but he is always up for a challenge.
I am still with the city in the Therapeutic Recreation Program. I get to teach an aqua rehab class on Wednesday, and it is a new year and will be starting to think of summer camp coming up.

Here is a little about our little adventure makers... Our beautiful kiddos are great at making fun adventures for us.  They love keeping us on our toes.
Brody...

Loves kindergarten and is so creative.  He loves to write stories and loves to figure out how much he can really read now.  He is still as tall as can be and towers over much of his class.
He played soccer this last year and loved it, he keeps asking when he can play again. I'm glad he wanted to play and he was pretty good at it.  We did joke that he took the widest turns when he had to turnaround to get the ball.  We worked a lot on that.  He is very loving and is always willing to help with his siblings.

Camilla...
She is our little DIVA!!! She loves to boss and laugh. What a great combination.  So she is bossing everyone and laugh at the same time so it does not always sound like she is telling her big brother what to do! But he  goes and does it.  She loves anything pink and purple and girly.  When Brody is at school she is my little shadow and wants to do anything that mom is doing.  She gets to bake and cook with me and do laundry with me.  But like I said she is a Diva and well she gets "tired" very easily.  So then she just sits and watches. She is great at observing.  She is getting so big!
Funny little story about Camilla one of our adventure makers.  She decided to swallow a couple of pennies.  One Friday afternoon I heard Camilla yelling and crying went to her and she said she "swallowed a coiny".  Coiny is what she called pennies. So we informed her doctor and I knew she was going to have us just watch for it, they said to call on Monday to let them know if we had found it.  Well Monday came around and there was no sign of the penny.  So the doctor said to go in and have a chest x-ray. In the x-ray they did not think it was a penny because it was more oblong then round then, and it was still in the stomach and it needed to be moving by now.  So they sent us to the emergency room to have the doctor take it out.  He went in and pulled out 2 pennies.  He was pretty sure that because the pennies were stuck together that is why did not pass. He said it was good he went in, because the pennies had started to corowd and were giving her ulcers.  We still have the pennies in the little cup they gave them back to us as a reminder for her to not put things in her mouth.  We still randomly ask her if pennies go in her mouth, she always answers correctly.

Deklin...

He is so big! He is one now. He is all boy and really gives us a run for our money.  He is up and down and into everything.  I turn around and everything in one cupboard is out and I get that cleaned up and another cupboard is emptied.  He is so cute and funny, he loves to laugh and scream.
A story about this little adventure maker. We know that we have, in a way, made him the screamer that he is.  In November he started having seizures and we began to baby him again.  The poor boy has had more testing than I have in my entire life.  He had any test that would rule out any reason that would possibly be causing the seizures.  There was nothing causing them, so we just have a little one that has seizures. His neurologist said that he will most likely grow out of them by the time he is 2.  We are hopeful that he will!!! The medicine that he is on is controlling his seizures. He is slowly starting to get back to his good ole' self and we are loving it. We now have such fun with him and trying to give him nebulizer treatments.  He is one and we have to have him sit still for about 20 minutes.  He hates it.  Because he had RSV when he was just a wee one this time around when he got a cold his lungs did not like it and he is having asthma like symptoms.  He really is giving us a run for our money.  But he just gives you that smile and you cant help but just love him and cuddle with him....

We are working on making time to post more and keep our blog up and running.

Our 3rd

Well I am finally writing about our little #3... I can say that after his birth I feel pretty good and recovery was fast.  What I am finding is having a third is the adjustment of having 3.  We are out numbered now.  So it seems to take me longer to get things done and get out of the house.  Not sure if I thought it would be this much fun to get into the routine of having 3 little ones on my hands. Getting in to a routine has been the biggest adjustment for me.  But regardless of that having our little one in our hands is just simply amazing.  So now to introduce our sweet bundle of joy...
Deklin Joseph Harrison
Born January 15, 2013
Weight: 7 lbs 10 oz
Height: 21 in.

He came just as planned and everything went very smoothly.  The surgery went fast and there were no complications,  my blood pressure dropped a little but with a little extra oxygen it came up and I was fine. Deklin came ready to do everything he was supposed to.  He had no problems knowing what to do. He gave us a little scare when the first night he kept gagging and had a lot of fluid he was choking on.  So we asked about it and the nurses were able to suction him out and he was fine.  He just didn't get it all out at birth, found out it is common in c-section babies.  We got to go home early on the third day and we were so happy to get home.  I heal so much better when I'm home.

Brody and Camilla love being big brother and big sister.  They are so willing to take care of him when ever he needs it or doesn't need it.  It has taken a little while for them to understand that babies cry.  They are not fond of all of his crying which I admit that it can be a lot (he is colicky).  But they are figuring out and will now say that is how the baby talks, and they will tell all of their little friends that.  They love being able to hug and kiss Deklin and always want to look at his eyes.  They love it when they can get him to smile and look at them.  They are great big helpers and are willing to help if it involves doing something for Deklin, helping me on the other hand, that is a different story.

So two weeks after getting home everyone in the house ended up with a cold and or the flu or both.  Brody and Camilla tested positive for the flu b strain.  We believe Mike brought this yucky stuff home from the hospital.  We were trying so hard to keep Deklin healthy and he was doing great until I finally got it and then he got it.  He then got it and he was having some much trouble breathing and he was not eating well so I took him in on a Saturday and the Doctor said he had RSV and he was going to have to be admitted to the hospital.  I being a very hormonal new mom started to cry, but put my big girl panties on and took him. This was scary because you always hear all the bad crazy things about such a young baby getting RSV and all of the complications.  We found out fast how much of a fighter our little Deklin is. He was so good in the hospital and just put up with all of the poking and prodding, we only were in the hospital 3 days and on oxygen at home for a weekish. We were told he could be on the oxygen for 3 months.  I know the Lord was watching over our little one.

We just love this little guy!!!!

BOY oh BOY

Well I have been so busy trying to play catch up that I have neglected to post a pretty important one. This one is an addition to the family.  We are having a baby BOY!!!!  He will join us in January and can't wait!  We are very excited and Brody can't wait to have a brother.  Camilla just likes the the thought of there being a baby in mommy's tummy.
Both of the kids want to name the baby... Some of the names that they came up with were Brody, Camilla, lake, park and we could go on with the wonderful names they want.  We are not sure if they are going to have the final say of the name.  But they thought their names were great.
I have been doing really great this pregnancy, I really think it helped that I was working all the first trimester and it kept me busy and staying on my toes.  Everything went by so fast I cannot believe I'm already 6 and 1/2 months.  We are very happy for this fun time in our lives.

School started...

Brody started his second year of preschool and still loves school.  He has the same teacher and a different.  He loves them both. He has some of the same kids in his class as last year so that made it nice for him to have some of his same friends.  He also talks about all of his new friends that he has so much fun playing with.
I love that he is able to tell me what he is learning in school and that he just loves school.  He even loves homework, which is great.  I know that he is only in preschool and he only has homework on Mondays but I hope that he continues to love it... I know one can only hope.  He is getting so good at writing and can almost write his name perfectly legable.  He is coloring much better in the lines and he does not fight me to color anymore.  He loves to write letters to people that are just long squibbles across the paper, but he can tell you what he wrote.  He always wants to count things and make sure he and Camilla have the same amount to make sure it is fare.
 First day of school
 Ready to go
Looking for the bus
Sitting and waiting with Camilla to get on the bus.

Back Yard Camping

We had so much fun camping out in the back yard with our cousins.  Back yard camping is the best, we have everything that we need with out the planning and packing.  We should have done this more often this summer.  But we did not, we only did it as the last hoorah before school. We still had fun!!!  We told stories and read, played in the dark and just were crazy for way past bedtime.

Just a fun night!

Summer...

Well summer has come and gone...  It has seemed to be a pretty uneventful summer.  Just a few things here and there.  Which has been nice.  We have seen some more family and have been able to get out and do a few things.  Which has been fun!

I have been working full time running a summer day camp for children with disabilities. What a great experience this was for me.  I have always enjoyed working with the kids as a director and working one on one with them.  It has always brought so much joy to me.  So to be in a different role as the coordinator over all of the camps was totally different.  I was able to learn so much and see the camps at a different perspective.  I loved it.  I loved being able to see all the camps run and how all the staff worked together.  It was a fun summer job.  And now I have the opportunity to work a little with the aqua rehab classes that is totally different then summer camps, but so much fun...

Mike is working down in Pueblo as a financial counselor.  The commute is a little crazy due to the road construction.  So him coming home can take a while.  Not so fun.  He is learning to keep himself busy by being apart of different committees.  He is enjoying meeting new people and learning new things.  He is busy with his ward calling also, but loves being involved and getting to organize lots of different projects.

Brody
Brody is getting so big and is talking so much better.  We love being able to talk with him and understand him. This summer he was able to be in T-ball, this was not the most enjoyable thing Brody every participated in.  He absolutely loved the practice, but the games he really disliked. During the practices the coaches were able to play games and have so much fun, games he had to do a lot of waiting and he did not do very well with that.  Although now that it is all over and he is not playing anymore he swears it was the best thing ever.

 Camilla
Camilla is such a big girl and just loved to be able to go and do what ever she could.  She was Brodys favorite cheerleader at all of his t-ball games and practices.  She loves to be busy and keeps everyone around her busy also. She is so talkative if she is comfortable and knows you, if she doesn't know you she will be shy and you wouldn't know that she could even talk.  She loves to sing at the top of her lungs and I mean top of her lungs, you can hear her all through the house.  It is so cute hearing her sing "Tinkle Tinkle Wittle Star" or "Swimming, Swimming in the swimming pool, oh wouldn't be nice if we had nothing else to do".  She loves her chocolate and will do anything to get it.

Miles, Tam and family came to visit
We had so much fun when we got to see Aunt Tam and Uncle Miles along with cousins Maddie, Emma, Ellie, and Lizzie.  We had fun swimming with them and hiking with them and even being able to go up to the top of Pikes Peak.  We also were able to just have a nice "calm" or should I say uneventful days to just play with all of our cousins.  It was very nice to have 4 of the 6 siblings together all at once.  We as in all the families that were here hiked Helen Hunt Falls. Camilla and I were even able to make it with the both of us being sick.  Camilla did not want to be out done by her cousins.  It took us a little longer than it should have but we made it.  Brody and daddy practically raced up the hill.  But Mike loved taking all the pictures also...

We all made it to the top and had fun...  I am sure everyone that saw our crowd thought we were crazy.
It was also a very beautiful ride to the top of Pikes Peak.  We thought going on a holiday we would be good to not have a busy day up there but oh my goodness the summit was soooo busy.  So after the long drive up and it being so busy we did not end up staying up there for very long.
Thanks for coming Uncle Miles and Aunt Tam and family we had so much fun being together. Can't wait to see you guys again.

To Short a visit with Aunt Heidi and Uncle Jon
We were pretty lucky to that Aunt Heidi and Uncle Jon won tickets to a concert out here in Denver.  We were able to go up to Denver and visit with them and have some fun, to bad it was not longer.  We got to play in their hotel room and also visit the temple with them.  We went to a park to play and run and then ate out with them. It was way to short of time with them! Hope they come back soon!

Dinosaur Museum
We took a weekend and had a little staycation with just our little family.  We ended up just staying close to home and having fun as a family. We went to Canyon City to the dinosaur museum over there.  It was a tiny museum but had a great activity room for the kids to play in and that was worth the drive.  The kids absolutely loved being able to play and dig for bones.

Well I think I am all caught up!!!!  We really had a fun summer even with Mike and I working.  We just love getting out as a family and staying busy.  We also love having family around and getting to visit with those that are not near by.
